When can you download digital version of shadowkeep

Depending on what you choose to buy, not everything is going to be available for you. If you skipped Forsaken, you can freely buy Shadowkeep on October 1 to start playing Shadowkeep content. This same structure will carry forward throughout Year Three, which kicks off October 1 as well.

To add the content to [Downloads], you must first delete the disc version of the content. Click on "I want to permanently remove this game from my account" Then go ahead and purchase Destiny 2: Shadowkeep Digital Deluxe Edition. Once the Deluxe Edition is purchased, please write back to us, confirming that and we'll refund your money for the purchase of Destiny 2: Shadowkeep. Please specify if you want those funds back to your card or your Steam wallet.

I am looking for that myself. You'd need to discuss upgrade options with your retailer. Bungie doesn't sell D2 content directly to consumers so they don't have any upgrade path to offer consumers, it would be up to your platform store to offer such a thing.
